Barry is the powerhouse of the Dan the Man roster. Where Dan is balanced and Josie is fast, Barry is pure, overwhelming force. His attacks are the slowest in the game, but every hit that connects shakes the screen and deletes chunks of enemy health bars. Barry is for players who believe the best defense is making sure the enemy does not get back up.
Barry's Complete Moveset
| Move | Damage | Special Property |
|---|---|---|
| Heavy Punch | Very High | Staggers all non-boss enemies on hit |
| Body Slam | High (AOE) | Ground pounds, hits all nearby enemies |
| Shoulder Charge | Medium | Long-range gap closer, knocks enemies back |
| Power Stomp | High | Launches grounded enemies into the air |
| Earth Shatter (Special) | Massive (Full Screen) | Hits every enemy on screen, long stun |
Barry's Strengths
Highest Health Pool in the Game
Barry has approximately 50% more base health than Dan and nearly double Josie's health. He can absorb hits that would be fatal for other characters and keep fighting. This makes him the most forgiving character for new players and the most reliable for survival-focused game modes.
Devastating Single-Hit Damage
A fully charged Heavy Punch from Barry deals more damage than some characters' entire combo strings. Against regular enemies, one or two hits is usually enough. Against bosses, every Heavy Punch that connects is a significant chunk of the health bar. Quality over quantity is the Barry mantra.
Built-in Crowd Control on Every Hit
Every one of Barry's attacks causes stagger or knockback. Enemies cannot interrupt Barry mid-combo because they are too busy being thrown across the screen. This passive crowd control makes Barry surprisingly safe despite his slow attack speed — enemies spend more time flying through the air than attacking.
Barry's Weaknesses
Slowest Attack Speed
Every Barry punch has a long wind-up. Against fast enemies (ninjas, assassins), you will get hit during your attack startup if you do not anticipate their movements. Start your attacks earlier than you think you need to — Barry's wind-up requires preemptive timing rather than reactive play.
Poor Mobility
Barry moves slowly and jumps lower than other characters. The Shoulder Charge provides a burst of speed, but it has a cooldown and can carry you into danger if used recklessly. Upgrade Movement Speed early — it is a higher priority for Barry than for any other character. Level 3 Movement Speed transforms Barry from a lumbering giant into a surprisingly mobile powerhouse.
Struggles Against Fast Bosses
Bosses with quick attack patterns (Shadow Ninja, late-game Overlord phases) can be frustrating for Barry. Your attacks are so slow that the boss may finish two attack cycles before you land one hit. Patience is paramount — wait for the boss's longest recovery animation and commit to one Heavy Punch, then back away. Do not try to combo fast bosses; hit and run.
The Shoulder Charge can be canceled into Body Slam by pressing down + punch during the charge animation. This lets you close distance with the charge and immediately transition into the AOE ground pound, catching enemies as they recover from the charge's knockback. This two-move sequence is Barry's most efficient crowd-clearing tool.
Optimal Build for Barry
Upgrade priority: Punch Damage → Movement Speed → Max Health → Special Power → Special Cooldown. Punch damage first because it is your primary tool. Movement speed second to address his biggest weakness. Health third to double down on his natural tankiness. Special power fourth because Earth Shatter hits everything — more power means faster wave clears.
Barry is the most accessible character for new players and a powerhouse in the right hands. If you prefer methodical, hard-hitting combat over fast-paced combos, Barry is your perfect match.
