Stages 6-10 Walkthrough — Mid-Game Mastery Guide

2025-06-25 11 min read Advanced Guides

Stages 6 through 10 represent the mid-game difficulty spike in Dan the Man. The training wheels come off — enemies are faster, attack in larger groups, and use more varied tactics. Bosses demand genuine mechanical skill. This guide ensures you are ready for everything Stages 6-10 throw at you.

Stage 6: The Forbidden Forest — Boss: Mech Sentinel

New Enemies: Poison spitters (ranged, leave damaging pools), giant spiders (fast, web attacks that slow you).

The forest introduces environmental hazards alongside enemies. Poison pools from spitters linger for several seconds and deal damage over time. Do not stand in the green. Giant spiders shoot webs that reduce your movement speed for 3 seconds if they connect — dodge these at all costs. A slowed Dan is a dead Dan in later encounters.

The forest layout is less linear than previous stages, with branching paths through the trees. The left path has more enemies but more coins; the right path has fewer enemies but a health pickup. Take the left path for farming, the right path for safe progression.

Boss: Mech Sentinel. Laser beam (sweeping across arena), rocket barrage (three projectiles), stomp shockwave. Refer to the Boss Fight Strategies guide for the full breakdown. Key points: jump the laser, stand between rockets, attack the core only when exposed. Minimum recommended: Level 3 Punch Damage, Level 2 Max Health.

Stage 7: The Bandit Camp

New Enemies: Bandit leaders (buff allies), bomb throwers (ranged AOE).

Bandit leaders are priority targets — they buff nearby enemies with increased damage and speed. Kill the leader first and the buffed enemies revert to normal. Bomb throwers hurl explosives that create large AOE explosions after a short fuse. The fuse is visible — a lit spark traveling down the bomb's fuse — giving you about 2 seconds to move away.

The camp layout features tents and barricades that provide cover from bomb throwers. Use the environment — bombs can damage enemies as well as you, so position yourself so that throwers are between you and their own allies. A well-placed bomb from an enemy can clear half a wave for you.

Stage 8: The Mountain Pass — Secret: Developer's Arcade

New Enemies: Boulder rollers (environmental hazard), mountain goats (charge attack), elite bandits.

The mountain pass introduces falling boulders — environmental hazards triggered by enemy actions. When you see a boulder roller winding up, either rush to kill them before they release or prepare to dodge. Boulders roll in a straight line and can be jumped over with precise timing.

The mountain goats are surprisingly dangerous for an animal enemy. Their charge attack covers half the screen and deals heavy damage. Side-step (move up or down) to avoid the charge — the goat cannot change direction once committed. After the charge misses, the goat is stunned briefly, giving you a free damage window.

Secret — Developer's Arcade: After defeating the mini-boss, backtrack left two screens to find a retro arcade cabinet. Interact with it to enter the Developer's Arcade mini-game. Score 10,000+ points for the Retro Blaster weapon skin. See the Hidden Levels guide for details.

Stage 9: The Ninja Fortress — Boss: Shadow Ninja

New Enemies: Ninja assassins (more aggressive variants), trap masters (set floor traps).

The fortress is the most technical stage so far. Trap masters place spike traps on the floor — glowing red circles that damage you if stepped on. Traps last about 10 seconds and trap masters replace them if destroyed. Destroy traps with ranged attacks (jump kicks work) while closing distance on the trap master. Kill the trap master to prevent new traps from spawning.

Boss: Shadow Ninja. Teleport strike, shuriken spread, smoke bomb, rapid slash combo. The fastest boss yet. Listen for the audio cue (whoosh) before teleport strikes. Center yourself during smoke bombs. Refer to the Boss Fight Strategies guide for full breakdown. Minimum recommended: Level 4 Punch Damage, Level 3 Max Health, at least Level 1 Special Cooldown.

Stage 10: The Wizard's Tower

New Enemies: Apprentice wizards (ranged magic attacks), animated armor (heavy, magic-resistant).

The tower has multiple floors connected by staircases. Each floor is a self-contained combat arena. Clear each floor completely before ascending — enemies on higher floors do not descend, but enemies on cleared floors can follow you up if not killed.

Apprentice wizards fire homing magic missiles that track your position. Unlike arrows, these cannot be dodged by simply moving — you must jump over them or use the dodge roll's invincibility frames. Kill wizards first in any mixed encounter. Animated armor is resistant to magic (if you are using the Arcane Set) but takes normal damage from physical attacks. Punch them down like any other heavy enemy.

The tower culminates in a battle against three apprentice wizards simultaneously — the first true multi-boss encounter. Separate them by moving to one side of the arena, forcing the wizard on that side to engage while the others must reposition. One at a time is the key to this fight.

With Stages 6-10 mastered, you are ready for the late-game challenges that await in Stages 11-20. Your fundamentals should be solid, your gear upgraded, and your confidence high.
